The Empowering Leaders Mentoring Program was created to help our students with the transition into college. We understand the major progression that takes place matriculating through senior year into a totally different dynamic. Many of our students are from underserved communities, where in many cases they are expected to be the leader in the household. This can definitely prove to be challenging while completing traditional senior year activities (prom, college decision-making, finishing strong with academics), all while dealing with life’s pressures. We have found that with our mentorship program, has not only given our students an outlet but also provided them with necessary guidance during such a strenuous time.

The Empowering Leaders program is for students that are in their senior year of high school. The activities that we plan for our students are primarily geared toward college preparation. We understand that in order to be a leader you must be surrounded by leaders. Our mentors are current college students who are sophomores or higher and have exemplified leadership on the campus they serve. These mentors range from student government association leaders, campus organization members, sorority and fraternity members, and leaders in academics with their prospective academic disciplines.

Areas of focus for the Empowering Leaders program range from:

  • Personal Mentoring and Support

  • College Prep Workshops

  • Tutoring and Homework Help

  • Soft Skills Building Exercises

  • Fun & Social Events

  • Community Service Activities

  • Resume + Interview Preparation

Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others.
